Lexus Vehicles Targeted in Thefts, Break-Ins

Greenbelt Police warns residents about an uptick in Lexus thefts and break-ins, and how to prevent them.

GREENBELT, MD — Police in Greenbelt are warning residents about a recent increase in thefts of Lexus vehicles as well as attempted break-ins of these vehicles.

"These incidents appear to be part of a targeted trend involving a specific vehicle make," the Greenbelt Police stated.

To help prevent break-ins and thefts, Greenbelt Police recommended residents take the following actions:

  • Always lock your vehicle and fully close all windows
  • Do not leave key fobs inside your vehicle or near entry doors at home
  • Use anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks, immobilizers or GPS tracking
  • Park in well-lit areas or inside a garage when possible
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
