Man Charged After Recording Device Found In UMD Dorm Bathroom

University of Maryland police said the device was found inside a bathroom at Johnson-Whittle Hall​.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — A man is facing charges after authorities said he placed a recording device in a University of Maryland dormitory bathroom.

Noah Michael White, 19, of Belcamp, was arrested Tuesday and charged with peeping tom and visual surveillance of a private place after the device was found in a single-use bathroom at Johnson-Whittle Hall, according to UMD police.

Police responded to the dorm on March 11 after a resident reported finding the device shortly before 9:15 p.m. Officers conducted a canvass and did not locate any additional electronic devices in the building's bathrooms.

The device was confiscated by police, authorities said.

Police said White turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was issued on March 14.
