Man Fatally Hit By Vehicle In Accokeek

A 79-year-old man was fatally hit by a vehicle the night before Thanksgiving, according to police.

ACCOKEEK, MD — Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a 79-year-old man that happened the night before Thanksgiving.

On Nov. 26 around 5:15 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 300 block of Bryan Point Road for a collision involving a person. They found Walter Puma, 79, of Accokeek lying in the road with trauma. He was taken to the hospital where he died, according to police.

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and wasn't injured.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver was heading westbound on Bryan Point Road near the intersection of Biddle Lane when, for reasons currently under investigation, he hit Puma who was walking in the road.
