Camp Springs, MD — A 22-year-old Temple Hills man was sentenced to 50 years in prison Tuesday for a shooting in a Prince George's County wing joint that left one dead on May 4, 2016.

Police said Rasheed Edwards opened fire on a group of customers inside an America's Best Wings restaurant in Camp Springs. Darryl Hairston, 20, of Fort Washington was killed by the gunshots, police said.

Prince George’s County Police were searching for Edwards, who also goes by the name Thaddeus Cornell Edwards, for a little over a month after the shooting. County sheriff's officers extradited Edwards from Columbus, GA, on June 24, 2016.

According to an arrest warrant, Edwards ordered food at the restaurant in the 7100 block of Temple Hills Road just before 10 p.m. that night. A short time later, three people entered the restaurant and also placed an order, and while they waited for their food Edwards is alleged to have begun staring at them until one of them asked him if there was a problem.

Police say Edwards replied there was not a problem, apologized, left the restaurant and returned seconds later with a handgun and began firing at the victims, fatally wounding Hairston.

Hairston died several hours later at a hospital. No employees inside the restaurant were hurt.

Police have not determined a motive in the shooting.
