MARC Train Strikes Another Pedestrian In PG County: Authorities

Just a day after a MARC train reportedly killed someone at a Bowie stop, someone else was severely injured by a train in Laurel.

LAUREL, MD -- For the second time in as many days, a MARC train has struck a pedestrian -- although in this case, the victim survived.

MTA Maryland reported shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 25 that MARC Camden Train 859 was holding just before Muirkirk Station due to police activity. About 20 minutes later, MTA Maryland reported that the train had struck and killed a person walking on the tracks near Laurel, but corrected this report about a half hour later by noting that the person was severely injured by alive.

The Washington Post reports that the victim was a teenage boy who was hit in the 8400 block of Holly Street, and he had critical injuries.

The incident comes a day after a pedestrian was struck and killed near the Bowie State University MARC train stop on Feb. 24 at around 8:30 p.m. That train was on the Penn Line, while the train in the Monday night incident was on the Camden Line. Both run out of Union Station in D.C.
