March Madness 2023: MD Men, Women To Play In NCAA Tournaments
The NCAA's March Madness tournament begins Tuesday; the Maryland men and women are in. Here's where they're seeded and printable brackets.

MARYLAND — Selections are in for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, better known as “March Madness,” which begins Tuesday. The first four games will be played in Dayton, Ohio.
The University of Maryland team is the only one from the state to make the annual men's tournament this year, while the Terrapin women are a No. 2 seed and host for the opening rounds of their tourney.
In the men's tournament, the Terrapins (21-12) will face 9th seed West Virginia (19-14) Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama. The game will tip off at noon and will be shown on CBS.

In the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, Maryland is the No. 2 seed with a 25-6 and will host the first and second rounds this weekend at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins, will face Patriot League Champion 15th-seeded Holy Cross (24-8) on Friday, March 17, at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPNEWS.
The top four seeds in the bracket in Greenville 1 Region are No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Maryland, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 4 UCLA.

For tickets to the games in College Park, click here. Maryland has earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 13 seasons. The women Terrapins have earned a top four seed 22 times in their 28 NCAA Tournament appearances and 15 times in head coach Brenda Frese's 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Terrapins were a No. 2 seed in 2021, 2016, 2012, 2007 and 2006 under Frese.
Maryland has made 28 NCAA Tournament appearances and is 50-28 (.641) all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

Selections were made Sunday for both the men's and women’s tournaments. Below are the major dates to know for the 2023 March Madness tournament and you can also get a Printable bracket.
- Selection Sunday: March 12
- First Four: March 14-15
- First round: March 16-17
- Second round: March 18-19
- Sweet 16: March 23-24
- Elite Eight: March 25-26
- Final Four: April 1
- NCAA championship game: April 3
Kansas is the defending national champion after the Jayhawks defeated North Carolina to win the national title last year. Alabama enters this year's tournament as the overall No. 1 seed and is joined by fellow top seeds Purdue, Kansas, and Houston heading into this week's opening round of games.
Kansas, which lost in the Big XII championship game to Texas, has less than an 8 percent chance of repeating, according to oddsmakers.
Both the Crimson Tide and Cougars were among the favorites to return to the championship this year. The odds for the top five were as follows, according to DraftKings:
- Houston : +475 (17.4 percent chance)
- Alabama: +650 (13.3 percent chance)
- Purdue: +1000 (9.1 percent chance)
- UCLA: +1200 (7.7 percent chance)
- Kansas: +1200 (7.7 percent chance)
- Texas: +1400 (6.8 percent chance)
