Multiple Lane Closures Needed For Southbound I-95 Road Project That Starts Sunday

Drivers should be aware that multiple lanes will be closed in the overnight along southbound I-95 from MD 214 to MD 4 for a road project.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project on southbound I-95 between MD 214 (Central Avenue) and MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) Sunday that will require multiple lane closures in the overnight hours.

The resurfacing work includes milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), paving and restriping. The work will take place 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and will require single-, double- and occasional triple-lane closures. Closing three travel lanes during work hours will provide a buffer between the paved area and the open travel lane and establish a safe work zone for the public and the crews working overnight, project leaders noted.

The pavement improvement project should be wrap up by late summer 2024, weather permitting.
