BOWIE, MD — A Prince George's Police officer celebrating his birthday "thought he was seeing things" when he realized he won a $50,000 third-tier prize playing Powerball.

The 51-year-old Bowie man was having a pre-birthday celebration drink at Corner Lounge and purchased two Powerball tickets Oct. 11. He went into work on his birthday the next day and checked the winning numbers using the Maryland Lottery app on his phone.

The father of two teenage girls matched four white balls and the red Power Ball for a $50,000 birthday win.
