Public Opinion Sought on Proposed School Closures, Boundary Changes
Boundary changes and school closures for several Prince George's County Public Schools will be discussed Jan. 21.

A hearing has been set to gather public opinion on possible school closures, boundary changes and grade configuration changes.
Residents can weigh in on the options before the Board of Education votes on several changes proposed by Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools.

School Closures/Boundary Changes
- Close Thomas Claggett Elementary as an educational site and reassign students to John Bayne Elementary and District Heights Elementary; relocate the Parent-Infant Hearing program to Kingsford Elementary.
- Cease operation of Kenmoor Elementary as a neighborhood school and reassign students to William Paca Elementary; establish an Early Childhood Center in Kenmoor Elementary School’s building
Grade Configuration Changes

- Reassign William Paca Elementary sixth-grade students to middle school (Kenmoor Middle School for neighborhood students).
- Reassign Woodmore Elementary sixth-grade students to middle school (either Ernest Everett Just Middle or Benjamin Tasker Middle for neighborhood students).
Other Changes
- Serve Potomac High ESOL students in place rather than sending to Oxon Hill High
Members of the community are encouraged to attend the public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the Sasscer Administration Building, 14201 School Lane, Upper Marlboro.
