Shelter-In-Place Ordered For Bowie Residents During Early Morning Incident

Bowie Police ordered a shelter-in-place for residents along Steeplechase Drive during an early morning incident Tuesday.

BOWIE, MD — Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, Bowie police officers were called to the 13000 block of Steeplechase Drive for a report of an individual with a knife threatening a neighbor.

The Bowie Police Department stated that the individual had retreated to its home and refused officers' orders to come outside.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents in the vicinity of the incident, the police department said.

The Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Behavior Health Unit was notified and helped with getting the individual to leave the residence without incident. The individual was taken to a local hospital for an emergency psychiatric evaluation, Bowie Police disclosed.
