Special Primary Election Set For Aug. 6 To Fill PGC Councilmember-At-Large Seat
Prince George's County will hold a special primary election Aug. 6 to fill a councilmember-at-large seat. Drop boxes will be set up July 22.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A special primary election will be held Aug. 6 to fill a councilmember-at-large seat. The general election will be combined on the state ballot for the 2024 Presidential election Nov. 5, officials said.
The special primary election will be a vote-by-mail election for all registered, eligible Prince George's County voters who will be automatically mailed a ballot. They do not have to request a ballot. Voters who have not yet registered and who want to vote in the special primary must register by July 16. Ballots will begin to be mailed around July 23, county officials said.

If a voter does not want to vote by mail, they can visit an early voting center between July 31 and Aug. 5 to cast a regular ballot. Hours of voting for that time period will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. On Aug. 4, hours of voting will be from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. Aug. 5 hours of voting will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The following locations have been designated as an early voting center location:

The special Primary Day election Aug. 6 will have in-person voting at all of the designated early voting locations listed above from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. If the voter has already returned a voted mail-in ballot, they will be required to vote a provisional ballot.

On Election Day, the Prince George’s County Board of Elections will begin to conduct the mail-in ballot canvass. The provisional ballot canvass will be held Aug. 14 and the final day of mail-in ballot canvass will be Aug. 16.
