Suspect In MGM National Harbor Shooting Charged, Held Without Bond
Benjamin Williams, 22, has been charged in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Darnell Hawkins, Jr. that happened at MGM National Harbor.
OXON HILL, MD — The suspect named in the fatal shooting that happened at MGM National Harbor Wednesday is being held on a no bond status, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced Friday.
Benjamin Williams, 22, was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Darnell Hawkins, Jr. that happened Wednesday around 11:55 a.m. at the food court inside the hotel and casino located at 101 MGM National Ave.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Hawkins with fatal injuries. According to Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader, Hawkins was ordering food when Williams appeared and immediately began shooting at him. Williams fled the scene after the shooting, police said.

“It appeared that they were looking for this person, chased them down and this shooting occurred right there in the food court,” Nader said.
Williams has been charged with first-degree and second-degree murder, firearm use in the commission of a violent crime, first-degree assault and second-degree assault, handgun on a person, and loaded handgun in a vehicle, Jackson stated.
