MARYLAND — A report released by U.S. News & World Report ranks online degree programs at five universities in Maryland among the best in the country.
The 2025 Best Online Programs rankings of nearly 1,800 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at regionally accredited institutions Master’s programs are ranked in several disciplines: MBA, business (non-MBA), engineering, information technology, criminal justice, education and nursing.

MBA
Indiana University-Bloomington, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Carnegie Mellon University, respectively, topped this list. In Maryland, the University of Maryland-College Park tied for No. 14 for Best Online MBA Programs.

Business
Carnegie Mellon University and Texas A&M University-College Station tied for first, and Arizona State University was ranked third.
- Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore is tied at No. 19
Information Technology
Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Columbia University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham occupied the top three positions, respectively.
Engineering
The University of California-Los Angeles was ranked first and Purdue University-Main Campus and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign tied for second.
