Tornado Watch Issued for Bowie

Afternoon, evening thunderstorms could bring heavy rains, powerful winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Prince George's County and the surrounding region, effective until 10 p.m. Thursday.

A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon warns that a low pressure system and cold from will likely trigger showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms could be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, heavy rains, hail and flash flooding. 

"An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in the stronger storms…especially across northeastern Maryland," reads the hazardous weather outlook.
