What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2025 In Bowie, Prince George's

Here's what is open and what's closed for the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday in Bowie and across Prince George's County.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Thanksgiving holiday season is upon us and all government offices are closed Thursday. Many are closed Friday, too.

The Prince George's County Memorial Library System will be closed Thursday.

Prince George's County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday.

The court system will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Post offices and banks will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, too.

The Mall at Prince George's will be closed Thanksgiving Day and reopens for Black Friday at 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The Bowie Town Center will be open Black Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Beltway Plaza will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday. The Towne Centre Laurel doesn't have holiday hours posted online; normal Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

All city offices in Prince George's County will be closed for the holiday.

The Animal Services Facility will be closed Thursday and Friday while the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will be closed Thursday only. The Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center will be closed Thursday as will the electronics recycling acceptance site and the household hazardous waste acceptance site. The Missouri Avenue solid waste acceptance and recycling center will be closed Thursday as will the Prince George's County materials recycling facility and the county organics composting facility.

There will not be any curbside bulky trash collection Thanksgiving Day and trash collected in county-contracted areas, as well as curbside bulky trash collected, will be bumped from Thursday to Friday and Friday's collection to Saturday. The same shift in service applies to curbside recycling collections.

On Thanksgiving Day, Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule. MetroAccess subscription trips will be canceled on Thursday. Customers are encouraged to use Metro's trip planner tool to plan travel by bus or rail for the Thanksgiving holiday. The day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess will operate normal weekday service.

TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Department of Public Works and Transportation, will not operate Thursday. Regular operations of TheBus will resume Friday. The county’s Call-A-Bus and PGC Link services, including dialysis transportation, will not operate Thursday or Friday. Regular operations services will resume Monday.

PGC311 will be closed Thursday and Friday and will return to regular operations Monday. Residents can still submit service/issue requests online at pgc311.com.
