BELTSVILLE, MD -- A woman has died after being struck by a car in Beltsville over the weekend, police say.

Police were called to the 3600 block of Powder Mill Road at around 9:05 p.m. on June 1 to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

The pedestrian, 57-year-old Lisa Layton of Beltsville, was taken to the hospital where she died two days later, police say.

"The preliminary investigation reveals the pedestrian was in the roadway, possibly crossing the street, when she was struck by a car heading northbound," the report states. "The victim was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver remained on the scene following the collision."
