Woman Sexually Assaulted On Playground Near Bowie Jogging Trail: UPDATES

UPDATES: Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman near a jogging trail in Bowie Sunday afternoon.

(Updated at 1:54 p.m. Wednesday) BOWIE, MD — Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on a jogging trail in Bowie Sunday afternoon. Prince George's County Police released a photo of the suspect Wednesday and will canvass the area Wednesday evening.

The victim told police that the man appeared from a wooded area near Jennings Mill Drive and Jennings Lane at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The man then sexually assaulted the woman on a playground, police said.

The woman was able to fight him off and break free from the suspect, police said. He then ran from the area.

The suspect is described by police as a black man between the ages of 20 and 30. He is heavy set and was wearing a hooded gray shirt and black pants at the time of the attack.

Detectives plan to canvass the neighborhood at 5 p.m. Wednesday in an effort to gather additional information.
