A woman wanted for child abuse causing injury in West Virginia has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Prince George's County.
CAMP SPRINGS, MD — A woman wanted for an outstanding felony warrant for child abuse in West Virginia was tracked to Maryland where the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested her in Camp Springs.
Rhonda Shannon Cox, 36, was charged with one count of child abuse resulting in injury in Berkeley County, West Virginia, in November 2022. In September of 2024, the warrant was referred to the U.S. Marshals Service task force for them to find and arrest her. Marshals learned that she had fled the area and believed she was living in Maryland. The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force received additional information that led officers to the Wood Spring Suites in Camp Springs. Officers found Cox at the hotel and arrested her without incident, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Cox was charged as a fugitive from justice and taken to Prince George's County jail where she awaits extradition back to West Virginia.
