Catonsville Student Shines in CCBC Allied Health Programs

A ceremony was held at the Essex campus of The Community College of Baltimore County for the Alpha Eta Honor Society induction.

One Catonsville student was recently inducted in The Community College of Baltimore County's chapter of the Alpha Eta Honor Society.

Kristie Annen-Kirby, an occupational therapy student from Catonsville, was inducted in a March 21 ceremony held on the college's Essex campus, according to a CCBC news release.

The organization honors allied health students for academic achievement, according to a statement from college officials.

For the first time, a special ceremony was held to recognize the new inductees, college spokeswoman Jacquie Lucy said.

"In the past they were recognized during the School of Health Professions Student Recognition Ceremony held prior to graduation," Lucy said in an email to Patch.

A total of 46 students and alumni were inducted in the society, according to Lucy.

Membership in the society, the national honor society for allied health professions students, requires an overall grade-point average of 3.5 or better, completion of a minimum of half of the professional program courses, and demonstrated leadership ability and a high level of professionalism, according to a statement from Lucy.
