College Park Shooting Now Considered Homicide, Police Say

Detectives with Prince George's County Police are investigating the April 18 shooting of a College Park man as a homicide.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Homicide detectives from the Prince George's Police Department are investigating the April 18 fatal shooting of a man in his College Park apartment, according to a police release. Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Karim Kambo Jr.

Around 7:40 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 8700 block of Baltimore Avenue for the report of a shooting. They found Kambo in his apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated but died from his injuries on June 10.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the incident was not a random crime. They are working to identify suspects and a motive.
