U.Md. Student, 18, Dies After Being Struck By SUV: Police
The fatal Sunday morning accident occurred on Baltimore Avenue, say Prince George's County police

COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Prince George's County police are investigating a fatal accident Sunday morning in which an 18-year-old student at the University of Maryland was struck by an SUV. Maria Fisher, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was transported to a local hospital, where she died a short time later, the police said.
The accident occurred at about 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) and Campus Drive, the police said.
Fisher had attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Baltimore Avenue when she was hit by the SUV, the police said. The driver of the SUV remained on the scene.

Detectives with the Police Department's accident reconstruction unit are working to determine the circumstances of the collision, including whether the accident victim was in a crosswalk, the police said.
