Juvenile Attacks Student With Baseball Bat On U.Md Campus

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly attacking a University of Maryland student with a baseball bat​ on campus.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult for attacking a University of Maryland student with a baseball bat on campus Oct. 6.

Police were called to the Stamp Student Union area of campus for an assault at about 10:56 p.m.

Two male students told officers they were walking in the area when they got into a verbal altercation with people inside of a passing car.

A male passenger allegedly got out of the car and began to follow the two students, police said.

The suspect then went back to the car and retrieved a baseball bat. He exchanged words with the students and allegedly struck one of them, before he fled in the car towards Baltimore Avenue, police said.

The suspect's identity and mugshot will not be released because of his age.
