Update: Police Identify Deceased Man as a UMd. Student

Adewunmi Omisore Adepegba, 21, was a University of Maryland student.

Update, 6:00 p.m. Police have identified the man as Adewunmi Omisore Adepegba, 21, a University of Maryland student from Greenbelt, Md.

Police were contacted by a party familiar with the victim after sending out an alert to the UMd. community this afternoon. The lead checked out, and police were able to confirm Adepegba's identity. His cause of death remains unknown. 

The university has not yet released information regarding a memorial service for Adepegba.

Original story, 2:40 p.m.: University of Maryland police are seeking the public's help identifying a man who was found dead on campus Tuesday night. 

According to Sgt. Ken Leonard, police responded to reports of an unresponsive male near Lot Z on Field House Drive around 9:45 p.m. Upon arriving, officers found that the man was not breathing and was without a pulse, and performed CPR until medics arrived.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Doctors said there were no visible signs of trauma, and based on the initial investigation, police do not suspect foul play.

Although an official report from the medical examiner may take months, Leonard said he hopes that the cause of death will be made known in the coming days.  

Police described the victim as an African-American man in his early 20s. He is around 6 feet tall and weighs 262 pounds, with a light mustache and light chin hair.

He was found by police wearing a black T-shirt with a white tank top underneath, navy blue running shorts with white stripes down the side, and black, red and neon orange Nike basketball shoes. He was also wearing what look like diamond earrings in each ear.
