Man Shoots 2 At College Park Apartment Party: Police

A man has been arrested in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured during a party in a College Park apartment complex.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — A man has been arrested in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured during a party in a College Park apartment complex this weekend.

Davie Serpas, 21, of College Park was arrested in D.C. Monday and charged with first- and second-degree murder. The decedent was identified as Rogelio Sierra-Duran, 24, of Silver Spring.

Officers were called to the report of a shooting in an apartment in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road at about 5:25 a.m. Sunday. Investigators believe Serpas got into an argument with two men while attending a party at the apartment.

Sierra-Duran was located with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said. A second victim was located suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

WJLA reports the argument broke out over a necklace at the small party of University of Maryland students and a Montgomery College student.

Serpa is in custody in the District awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
