PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 30-year-old College Park man has been charged with the murder of his mother, 61-year-old Marlene Sloley. They lived together in the apartment where the crime occurred. On March 23 at approximately 11 a.m., officers conducted a welfare check at an apartment located in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road. They found Sloley unresponsive with trauma. She was pronounced dead on the scene.A police investigation shows the suspect, Junior Bernard, Jr., fatally assaulted his mother during an argument and then he took off. Officers found him at a relative's home in Landover. Bernard Jr. has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges. He's being held without bond.
