Thank A Mail Carrier

College Park Aviation Museum continues to celebrate the Airmail Centennial with an activity for all ages!

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” While not an official “motto” of the U.S. Postal Service, this phrase is sometimes mentioned in reference to delivering the mail. For anyone who has greeted their mail carrier on a rainy, cold and icy February afternoon, or watched as a carrier lugs a full bag of mail down the sidewalk in the city in the heat and humidity of August – this phrase seems pretty accurate! Now is your chance to express your appreciation for your local mail carrier!

On Sunday, February 3, the College Park Aviation Museum is hosting a Thank a Mail Carrier activity from 10 am – 3 pm. The public is invited to make a thank you “package” to give to the carrier that serves their route at home or at work – or both! Visitors are encouraged to be creative in making a thank you card or picture. Then, they are able to select a few small items to include in their package and literally tie it all together. Guests are also encouraged to try the weighing activity as part of the museum’s new Delivering America: Airmail to Email exhibit. The Thank a Mail Carrier activity is included with regular museum admission which is: $5/Adults; $4/Seniors (60+); $2/children (2 – 17) and under 2 are free. Questions? Call 301-864-6029 or visit www.CollegeParkAviationMuseum.com or find the museum on Facebook.
