HCPSS Elementary Named A 2024 National Blue Ribbon School

An HCPSS elementary located in Ellicott City has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Worthington Elementary School in Ellicott City has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School.

Located at 4570 Roundhill Road, Worthington earned a spot in the Exemplary High Performing Schools category, which honors the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.

Worthington Elementary School received a five out of five star rating from the most recent Maryland State Department of Education School Report Card, which looks at factors such as academic achievement, rate of chronic absenteeism and access to a well-rounded curriculum. On state tests, 78.8% of Worthington Elementary School students scored as proficient or higher in math and 84.8% of students in English language arts.

“I am so proud of the entire Worthington Elementary School community for achieving National Blue Ribbon status,” said Howard County Public School System Superintendent Bill Barnes. “This recognition is a testament to the exemplary administrators, educators and families who work together to support our students each and every day as they strive for excellence. Thank you for your commitment to our students.”

Eighteen Howard County Schools have received Blue Ribbon honors since 1985, with Mount View Middle School and Waterloo and Manor Woods elementary schools being recognized within the last decade.
