Howard County Crime Roundup: Carjacking, Several Robberies in Columbia

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Columbia: Carjacking

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 28, a suspect waived down a vehicle driving on the 11400 block of Hickory Ridge Road, opened the driver's door and displayed a handgun, telling the passengers to exit the vehicle. The suspect told one victim to give him his wallet and cell phone, and then another suspects entered the vehicle as they fled the scene. Police said the vehicle was later recovered several blocks away.

At 11 p.m. on Nov. 26, two suspects approached a victim walking toward the Long Reach Village Center, near the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court, grabbed the victim by the shirt and demanded money. The victim complied, giving them a wallet with cash and a credit card, and the suspects fled.

Between Nov. 25 and Nov. 28, an unknown number of suspects entered an unsecured residence under construction, on the 7100 block of Susans Pass, stealing cabinets and flat trim.

Ellicott City: Commercial Robbery Attempt

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, an unknown suspect approached employees at the BP Gas Station on the 4100 block of Old Columbia Pike, implied a weapon and demanded cash. The employees yelled and the suspect fled on foot.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Nov. 24, an unknown suspect approached an employee at the 7-11 on the 9300 block of Baltimore National Pike, implied a gun and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot.

North Laurel: Commercial Robbery

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Nov. 25, an unknown suspect approached an employee at RSVP Flowers, on the 9100 block of All Saints Road, displayed a knife and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot.

Columbia: Commercial Robbery

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Nov. 26, an unknown suspect approached an employee at Royal Farms, on the 8700 block of Centre Park Drive, displayed a gun and demanded cash and cigarettes. The employee complied and the suspect fled.

Columbia: Robbery

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 23, an acquaintance of the victim asked the victim to meet her in a parking lot on the 6000 block of Majors Lane. Four unknown suspects then exited the vehicle of the acquaintance and assaulted the victim, stealing his shoes, cell phone and marijuana. The suspects fled as another vehicle appeared, and officers later found the suspect vehicle and arrested two juveniles.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on Nov. 24, three unknown suspects displayed a gun to a victim at the Exxon Gas Station, on the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court, assaulted the victim and stole cash. The suspects fled, two on foot and one on bike, to the footpath at Flowerstock Row.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Nov. 28, neighbors observed former residents remove boards from the front door and entering a home on the 11800 block of New Country Lane. Police said the residence was boarded up by the bank after the residents were evicted.

Ellicott City: Commercial Break-In Attempt

Shortly before 4 a.m. on Nov. 25, an unknown number of suspects tampered with the door of Enchanted Forest Wine and Spirits, on the 10000 block of Baltimore National Pike, but failed to gain entry.

Columbia: Catburglary

Between 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 and 7:30 a.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects removed a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle in the driveway of a residence on the 5300 block of Winter Moss Court, opening the garage and entering the residence. The suspects stole a purse, backpack and video game system.

Between 9 a.m. and 1:52 p.m. on Nov. 28, an unknown number of suspects pried open the front door of a residence on the 6700 block of Old Waterloo Road, stealing a camcorder and car keys.

Between 5:30 a.m. and 1:52 p.m. on Nov. 28, an unknown number of suspects pried open the front door of a residence on the 6700 block of Old Waterloo Road. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Columbia: Break-In Attempt

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Nov. 25, an unknown number of suspects broke the glass door of a residence on the 9500 block of Standon Place, but fled once discovered.

Between Nov. 23 and Nov. 26, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass panel adjacent to the front door of a residence on the 10600 block of Quarterstaff Road. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Between Nov. 23 and Nov. 27, an unknown number of suspects broke the rear window of a residence on the 5600 block of Columbia Road, stealing televisions and a video game system.

Between 11 a.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 25, an unknown number of suspects broke the rear sliding glass door of a residence on the 11400 block of High Hay Drive. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Ellicott City: Break-In Attempt

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, a witness observed an unknown suspect attempting to force entry into a residence on the 3000 block of Rogers Avenue. Police said no entry was gained.

Columbia: Break-In

Between 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 and 9 a.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects entered the rear sliding glass door of a residence on the 6000 block of Camelback Lane, stealing two laptops, cash and a wallet.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Nov. 26, an unknown number of suspects broke a rear window of a residence on the 12200 block of Green Meadow Drive, but failed to gain entry.

Between 9 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Nov. 26, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass panel next to a door and entered a residence on the 12200 block of Green Meadow Drive, stealing tools , prescription medication and a shotgun.

Between 12:15 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. on Nov. 26, an unknown number of suspects broke a rear sliding glass door and entered a residence on the 10900 block of Swansfield Road, stealing cash.

North Laurel: Indecent Exposure

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Nov. 23, a juvenile male exposed himself to a female who was inside of a residence on the 9100 block of Hitching Post Lane. The suspect fled toward Covered Wagon with a group of other juveniles.

Elkridge: Indecent Exposure

Shortly before 12 p.m. on Nov. 24, a witness observed an unknown male exposing himself near the 6000 block of Marshalee Drive.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft Attempt

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 28, ignition damage was reported in a vehicle on the 7100 block of Minstrel Way.

Savage: Vehicle Theft

At 8 a.m. on Nov. 23, a vehicle theft was reported at a residence on the 8600 block of Savage-Guilford Road.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Nov. 26, a vehicle reported stolen from a residence on the 10200 block of Hickory Ridge Road has already been recovered in Baltimore.
