Meeting Will Discuss How To Save County Champion Tree At Troy Park
A meeting will be held to discuss a project designed to save a 61-inch diameter County Champion Swamp White Oak tree at Troy Park.

ELKRIDGE, MD — There will be a community outreach meeting March 5 to discuss a project designed to protect the County Champion Tree at Troy Park in Elkridge.
The proposed project will include the stabilization of the streambank next to a 61-inch diameter County Champion Swamp White Oak tree, located east of Field #2, that is eroding and undercut, officials said. The project start in mid-June and weather permitting, wrap up by the end of June 2025.
“Howard County’s protection of treasured champion trees is a reflection of our commitment to protecting and enhancing our ecological resources,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “I encourage residents to learn more about preserving and planting trees, which promote the beauty and health of our community.”

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in Conference Room #1 at Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks headquarters, located at 7120 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia.
