Rev. John Cheek: Varied Career and Accomplishments

The Rev. Dr. John William Cheek, Jr., passed away on May 24. Rev. Cheek was a member of the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center Board of Directors, most recently serving as Secretary. A resident of Columbia, Rev. Cheek was Senior Pastor of Luther Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Silver Spring. A retired member of the United State Air Force, Rev. Cheek was a school teacher in San Angelo, Texas, and Howard County, where he retired as an Assistant Principal.

His family has asked that donations be made to Grassroots, grassrootscrisis.org/ways-to-give/make-a-donation, in memory of Rev. Cheek.
