Owings Mills Man Sentenced In Road Rage Shooting

An Owings Mills man has been sentenced in connection to a road rage shooting that unfolded in August 2024 along I-95.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The man who shot at a driver on I-95 in a road rage incident has been sentenced to prison.

On Aug. 12, 2024, Quwan Lamar Gordon, 48, of Owings Mills fired a gun at another vehicle, hitting it twice. No one was injured in the incident, which happened during the day. A witness who watched the shooting unfold shared information with Maryland State Police who were able to track down Gordon by the vehicle. They executed search warrants at his home in Owings Mills and on the vehicle. Their search uncovered a loaded handgun and felony quantities of suspected MDMA and fentanyl. Gordon, a felon prohibited from possessing firearms, was initially charged with narcotics and weapons violations before being formally charged with attempted second-degree murder on Aug. 23, 2024, according to the state's attorney's office.

After a three-day jury trial, on Jan. 31, Gordon was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and multiple firearms-related offenses. He has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

"Today’s sentencing sends a clear message that gun violence on our roadways will not be tolerated,” said State’s Attorney Rich Gibson. “Thanks to the meticulous work of the Maryland State Police and our dedicated prosecution team, we were able to bring Mr. Gordon to justice and ensure the safety of our community. We commend the bravery of the witness who stepped forward and the investigators who connected the dots in a complex and dangerous case.”
