The Turn House In Howard County Celebrates 7th Anniversary

Howard County native and chef Thomas Zippelli celebrates The Turn House's seventh anniversary this summer.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Turn House in Columbia celebrated its seventh anniversary this summer.

Offering contemporary American cuisine with a touch of French flair, the culinary team happens to be led by Howard County native chef Thomas Zippelli. Their focus involves using the freshest locally sourced ingredients with approximately 70 percent of the menu including ingredients sourced within 30 miles.

"Building relationships, supporting local farmers and sourcing fresh, local ingredients are what make our restaurant truly unique," Zippelli said. "It's the responsible thing to do and I couldn't be more grateful to all of the locals that allow me the opportunity to work together to create truly unique dining experiences with some of the freshest local ingredients around."

Zippelli attended Johnson & Wales University for culinary school in Rhode Island, then worked at Eleven Madison Park in New York, New York, and The French Laundry in Napa Valley, California. In 2019, Zippelli was nominated for chef of the year from the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Stars of the Industry Awards.

“My dream was to return to Maryland and open a restaurant in my hometown,” Zippelli said. "My mission is to serve seasonal and sustainable food that our guests can trust and enjoy."
