The ceremony traditionally includes prayers, an honor guard and a history of the monument and the roles Fort Howard residents have played in wars throughout the years.
While the monument honors residents who fought in WWII and memorializes several who lost their lives in the effort, the ceremony also recognizes residents who have fought in later wars and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while defending their nation.
