11-Year-Old Pitches Perfect Game, Wins Title
The South Maryland 10- and 11-year-old team won the District 4 Title thanks to stellar pitching and defensive effort from twins Kyle and Keaton Goetzger.

The South Maryland 10- and 11-year-old All Star team defeated Laurel 13-0, completing a sweep of the District 4 Little League Tournament in perfect fashion.

South Maryland posted nine of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, leaving very little doubt as to the outcome of the game. However, there was plenty of drama throughout the night as Kyle Goetzger pursued a perfect game for the second time in two years.

Amazingly, Goetzger was able to accomplish this feat at last year’s 9-10-year-old All Star tournament.
Goetzger was the beneficiary of a South Maryland defense that played their third straight errorless game. No play was more spectacular than the final out.

Goetzger's twin brother, Keaton, ranged to his left from his shortstop position to snare a sharply hit ground ball, rose up and threw a strike to first baseman, Tommy Dennis, securing his brother's second perfect game.
Over the four-day tournament South Maryland outscored their opponents 42-2. The pitching staff was outstanding, throwing two no-hitters and one two-hitter. The defense was solid and the offense took advantage of nearly every opportunity. Every player contributed to the tournament victory.
This year’s team consisted of Cam Bryant Rees, Brian Connolly, Tommy Dennis, Brian DuVol, Alex Greene, Keaton Goetzger, Kyle Goetzger, Nikko Nolte, Patrick O'Farrell, Matthew Palumbo and 'Topher Spindler.
South Maryland moves on to the state tournament in Easton, MD, beginning July 14.
