6-Year-Old Girl Assaulted During Attempted Robbery in Lothian

The girl was struck by a would-be-robber when she tried to end his assault on her mother, according to police.

A 6-year-old girl and her mother were assaulted in Lothian on Wednesday afternoon during an attempted strong-arm robbery, according to a release issued by Anne Arundel County Police.

According to police, a 31-year-old woman and her daughter were walking in the 1200 block of Whittington Drive in Lothian when they were approached from behind by a teenage boy.

At some point, the victim's 6-year-old daughter tried to stop the attack on her mother and was stuck in the chest by the victim, police said.

The two victims were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man between 15 and 20 years old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with close-cut hair.
