Anne Arundel Free School Opening for Sunday Visitors
The "living, history classroom and museum" is opening for the season this Sunday.

The 1724 Anne Arundel Free School is a living history museum, and a real treasure.
This Sunday, the free school opens to the public for those interested in learning about the early roots of schooling in Anne Arundel County.

Get a feel for how early schooling got its start in Anne Arundel County.
Write on a slate, read an early textbook, ring the school bell, solve the “mystic stick,” stand in the huge fireplace, identify the farm implements and enjoy how schools became an important part of every community.

You might even find a photo of one of your schools. The Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association (AARSPA) members serve as volunteers at the school. Call (410) 573-0840 to schedule a group visit and private tour. Admission is free and children are welcome. The school is now air conditioned too.
The Free School is located in Davidsonville and open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on May 6 continuing all the way to July. If you have not visited, take a Sunday afternoon trip to the Free School.
