Anne Arundel Police Make 64 Traffic Stops In Enforcement Period
Local police officers handed out 23 citations and 54 warnings for various offenses during a 3 1/2-hour period on Solomons Island Road.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – Anne Arundel County Police and other local police agencies made 64 traffic stops along Solomons Island Road Thursday morning as part of an enforcement program designed to monitor driving patterns in high-intensity traffic areas.
Police said Thursday that the traffic detail was conducted during the morning hours by officers in marked and unmarked cars from Anne Arundel County and other local law enforcement agencies. Along with making the 64 traffic stops over 3 ½ hours, officers issued 23 citations and 54 warnings for various traffic infractions including cell phone usage, speeding, running red lights and failure to wear a seatbelt.
The local enforcement effort also included federally certified commercial vehicle inspectors who performed nine commercial vehicle inspections over the course of the morning. Two of the inspected commercial vehicles were placed out of service for safety violations.

This enforcement is a continuation of directed enforcement patrols conducted on various county roadways as a result of crashes, aggressive driving, and speed complaints, the county police department said in a news release.
The department said that additional enforcement efforts will be conducted on various county roadways focused on deterring aggressive driving, distracted driving, speeding, and occupant protection. Local drivers observing any vehicles operated in a careless or reckless manner are asked to contact the police department by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at (410) 222-8610.
