Burr Yacht Sales Becomes Latest 'Maryland Clean Marina'

The local yacht dealership is now the second Edgewater location to receive the award.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) named Burr Yacht Sales in Edgewater as the latest “Maryland Clean Marina” on Monday.

Operating on the Selby Bay for almost 50 years, the local dealership sells yachts that cruise up and down the Chesapeake Bay. The award from DNR recognizes yacht clubs that work to reduce their pollution through a variety of mediums. 

“Earning the Clean Marina Award was a goal I knew we could achieve, as we always work very hard to keep everything in order,” said John Bullock, salesman and marina representative, in a press release. “Everyone works together and does their part to ensure Burr Yacht Sales runs efficiently as a clean marina."

The DNR said the yacht club won the award thanks to its hard work in improving its emergency response plan, assembling a fuel spill response kit and sharing information about the location of public recycling tanks for oil and antifreeze.

“The staff also takes precautions to collect any debris when they work on a boat in the water,” according to a release.

The DNR said the Edgewater yacht dealership is the 121st certified Maryland Clean Marina in addition to 146 certified facilities and 25 other smaller Clean Marina partners.

Burr Yacht Sales now joins the as a Edgewater location included in the DNR’s “Maryland Clean Marina” list.
