Davidsonville Church Leaves Its Walls to Feed the Poor

More than 300 volunteers from the  (CCF) church in Davidsonville spent their Saturday delivering free food to public housing neighborhoods in Annapolis, according to The Capital.

Pastor Pat Packett said in the article that it was “a major outreach” event, as the church members delivered large amounts of food.

"We were honored to serve our community for it is far better to give than to receive," Packett told Patch in an official statement. "We heard stories from the residents of their hardships, but they continue to persevere even throughout these difficult times."

The church was able to secure the food through a partnership with Feed the Children, an international relief organization committed to fighting poverty. While Feed the Children spends much of its resources across the globe, the event last Saturday was needed locally—as one in 16 Anne Arundel County residents live in poverty, according to The Capital.

Members of CCF served others, but Packett said it was the volunteers who came away truly blessed.

"We here at CCF came away most blessed by the kindness extended by all we encountered during the Daily Bread distribution," Packett told Patch. "God used CCF in a mighty way and we will continue to reach out to those in need in our community." 

Volunteers unloaded two tractor-trailers worth of food and then went door to door throughout the Annapolis Housing Authority’s Harbour House community, The Capital reported.
