After a during last week's violent storm, many in the Edgewater and Davidsonville communities mourned the loss of . 

Since his passing, the community has come out in full force, coming to the aid of the O'Brien family and others facing hard times in the aftermath of the storm. 

at their son's funeral reception Friday morning, dozens of residents arrived with pie, cookies, doughnuts and a whole lot more. Businesses like , and also donated food for the memorial service and reception.

Joe McGovern, co-owner of Stan and Joe's, said he was almost brought to tears when he saw person after person carry in food for the O'Brien family outside Londontowne Hall on Mayo Road on Friday. 

In the days following the tragic accident, a heart-warming story of triumph arose featuring a . One of the men who survived the accident said a stranger comforted him until medics arrived on scene, according to a letter written by his mother that was posted to Patch.
