Dogwood Acres, SPCA Team Up to Help Pet Owners

An Ask the Experts happy hour will be held at the SPCA in Annapolis on July 25.

Sometimes pets do some interesting things.

For instance, when we feed my Rottweiler, Nala—she picks up the food, carries it into the living room, spits it out, and then eats it off the floor. Odd, right?

Well, Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat in Davidsonville is teaming up with the SPCA of Anne Arundel County to help pet owners answer some of their most troubling questions.

“We teamed up with the SPCA to offer a class for owners of new pups, old pups, and any pet owners who would like to learn more to be the best pet owner they can be,” said Erin Bogan, Marketing Coordinator for Dogwood Acres.

For those of you who have pets with puzzling behavior, Dogwood and the SPCA will host an Ask the Experts happy hour at the SPCA in Annapolis on July 25.

Bogan said they would have a representative from Paws and Possibilities to answer questions about obedience training; Family Veterinary Clinic will provide information about pet care; Grand Paws Salon will discuss grooming care, and Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat will talk about pet lodging and daycare.

The SPCA will also be on hand to talk, and the Pet Barn organization will discuss food and nutrition for pets.

“So [many] of us pet parents (me included) are new the game and always have question come up as to what is best for our pup,” Bogan said in an email. “Even experienced pet owners still have more they want to learn. So we thought it would be great to offer an opportunity for pet parents to ask these questions by those who can best answer them.”

The Ask the Experts happy hour will feature free wine and cheese and will offer a casual environment for pet owners to ask questions.

Ask the Experts will be held at the SPCA at 1815 Bay Ridge Ave. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on July 25. To RSVP email ebogan@dogwoodacres.com.
