Edgewater Man Runs Vintage Motorcycle Shop from Home

Chris Newton opened his own business called Blown Income Customs, customizing vintage British and European motorcycles.

Edgewater resident Chris Newton loves working with motorcycles that are older than he is. That's why about a year ago, he began customizing bikes aside from his full-time job—doing all the work in his own home, according to The Capital

While it's not his full-time job, Newton started the comically named Blown Income Customs (BIC) in 2011 due to his love of "preserving history, a passion for racing a dedication for British and European motorcycles," according to BIC's website.

The Edgewater resident boasts 15 years of racing and mechanical experience, in addition to being a veteran racer of the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Newton provides motorcycle enthusiasts simple maintenance work on their classic bikes, or complete overhauls to ensure peake performance, the BIC website said. Along with his wife, Newton lives with five classic motorcycles, ranging from English 1940s classics to a 1970s cafe racers, The Capital reported.

The vintage motorcycle fanatic sat down with The Capital for a quick interview earlier this week. See what he hopes to do in the future, and why his wife won't allow him to buy more motorcycles
