False Alarm for 'Plastic Burning Smell' at Wawa
A fire department spokesman said firefighters found no fire despite the reports of a "plastic burning smell."

A large number of emergency personnel responded to a “non-event” Sunday night in the parking lot after receiving calls of a “plastic burning smell,” according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Chief Michael Cox.
Around 5 p.m. Sunday, four fire engines, two ladder trucks, one rescue squad and one paramedic arrived at the local , Cox said. Responders were told that employees and customers smelled a “slight odor” of something plastic coming from the electrical room.
A quick investigation showed no fire, so Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) was called to assess the situation, Cox said.

The major gas and electric providers checked the connection from the pole to the building outside , but no issues were found, Cox said.
“Everything in the store checked out OK,” the spokesman said.

The gas station and convenience store is located in the 3100 block of Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.
