Get ready folks. On Wednesday, May 23, 7-Eleven stores throughout the country are giving away free 7.11-ounce Slurpees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Why? Who cares!
OK, seriously though, participating 7-Eleven stores throughout the United States are offering free Slurpees. As part of a promotional effort to highlight their brand new "Slurpee Lite," a new low-calorie version of the popular summer beverage, local shops invite the community to swing by and enjoy its famous treat for free, according to Time magazine.

The free-Slurpee day is one of two in 2012, preceding the traditional giveaway that takes place on 7-Eleven's , according to Time.
