Letter: Stranger Comforted My Son Through Fatal Accident
A mother whose son was in the fatal car accident that killed Kevin O'Brien, is seeking the identity of a man who comforted her child throughout the ordeal last Friday.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to request the Patch's help in finding someone who I would like to thank, and make sure he knows how much his actions made a difference recently. I am hoping that either he will read it and contact me or someone who knows him will pass it along.
Last Friday night during that horrible storm, my son was in the car with in time that we all wish we could erase, took his life. My son was trapped in the car for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

A gentleman and his female passenger were behind the car when the accident occurred. He immediately did what he could do to help, and more importantly, stayed as close to my son as he could, talking to him until paramedics, fire personnel and my son’s father made it to him.
My son said he doesn't know what he would have done if he hadn't been there. We are talking about a 17-year-old boy who is experiencing the most horrifying, scary devastating time of his life, and if it weren't for this man, he would have been alone. As his mother, the fact that he was not alone means so much to me.

I am grateful to him for being there to comfort him. I don't want this gentleman to think for a second that he was forgotten, or that what he did wasn't appreciated.
I am forever grateful. I hope he gets to see this.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet him or speak to him.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth H.
