Officials Set to Vote on Central Elementary Redistricting
The superintendent's proposal moves approximately 100 students from Central to Davidsonville and Mayo Elementary.

Anne Arundel County’s Board of Education is set to vote Wednesday morning on Superintendent Kevin M. Maxwell’s , which would shift students from to and schools.
If approved by the board, the redistricting would alleviate by moving approximately 100 students to the nearby schools. However, it’s a move that the community has largely objected to in previous public hearings.
In March, more than 20 parents and community members addressed the board and several asked them to the superintendent’s proposal.

At the hearing, Central Elementary School PTA Vice President Kierstin Dillahay told Patch that she feels Central Elementary is “not in crisis.”
Central Elementary has a student population of 796, which is , according Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). Maxwell’s proposed redistricting plan is identical to one created by a community panel in 2011, according to AACPS.

The specifics of the superintendent’s redistricting proposal are listed below:
- Redistrict from Central Elementary to students living along Muddy Creek Road, including Wolfe’s Reserve and Fiddlers Hill Road, as well as those students living east of Muddy Creek Road and south of Central Avenue, including those living in River Club Estates and along Camp Letts Road.
- Redistrict from to all students living in the communities of Waterford, Annapolis Landing and Berkshire, as well as those living along the south side of Riva Road.
- An optional grandfathering of rising fifth-graders (current fourth-graders) at Central Elementary.
