Police Charge 2 in Edgewater McDonalds Motorcycle Theft
One Edgewater man and one Michigan man are facing multiple charges in failed theft incident.
Two men are facing theft and other charges after attempting to steal a motorcycle from a McDonalds in Edgewater early Saturday morning.
According to a police report, an 18-year-old man, his 20-year-old brother and a group of their friends were eating in the McDonalds on Mitchells Chance Road at around 3 a.m. Saturday. One of the men told police he saw a man pushing his brother's motorcycle from the restaurant's parking lot.
The brothers left to confront the man while their friends remained inside the restaurant and called police. The brothers caught up to the man with the motorcycle and attempted to keep him from leaving the scene, when a second man arrived and began striking one of the brothers on the head and face, causing lacerations, police said.
One of the men seen with the motorcycle walked away down Mitchells Chance Road and the second man went back to the McDonald's parking lot, got in a white Chevrolet van and drove away, states the police report.
Police identified and stopped the van on Loch Haven Drive soon after the incident. Brandon Powell, 23, of Edgewater, and Brandon Jones, 27, of Michigan, were both arrested.
Powell was charged with motor vehicle theft and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Jones was charged with motor vehicle theft, two counts assault and driving on a suspended license.
Powell has since been released on bond, and Jones is still being held by authorities.
