Parul Rabil of the Boston Cannons and Justin Smith of the Charlotte Hounds showed off their skills and spoke to the kids about what it takes to be the best, both on the field and in the classroom.

Davidsonville lacrosse coach John Malamphy orchestrated the MLL players’ visit as a way for the kids to meet their heroes and learn the importance of hard work.

“[Rabil and Smith] touched on workouts away from practice and how important these are to your stick skills—kids should find a wall and work on this as much as they can,” Malamphy told Patch.

Rabil, a midfielder, currently holds the world record for fastest shot at 111 mph. He didn’t just talk to the kids about shooting though, he also addressed the importance of time management and how iPhones should be used for keeping a schedule, not just games, Malamphy said.

“After talking to the boys, [Rabil and Smith] went over some passing drills … and made time afterward to sign autographs and take pictures with every kid that came out,” Malamphy said. “What a great experience for these kids, that they will remember for a long time.”
