Riva Woman Faces Sexual Assault Charge
Texas police say Karen Carstens had sex with a 13-year-old boy while his mother was hospitalized, according to reports.

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Riva woman accused of having sex with her friend’s teenage son in Texas, according to The Capital.
County police took Karen Carstens, 41, of the 200 block of Orchard Road in Riva, into custody on April 30, according to online court records.
According to HoustonPress.com, police in Harris County, TX, issued a warrant for Carstens’ arrest for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old boy on multiple occasions.

HoustonPress.com reported that Carstens is a friend of the teen’s mother and volunteered to babysit him when his mother was hospitalized. The same article cited police documents that said Carstens and the teen had several sexual encounters during a two-year span, beginning in 2007 and ending in 2009 when Carstens moved away.
Court documents revealed that Carstens told the teen to keep their relationship a secret and that the teen was more concerned about birth control than Carstens was, according to Dailymail.co.uk.

HoustonPress.com reported that police charged Carstens with sexual assault of a child under 17—a felony.
Patch called the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Parole on Monday and learned that Carstens is currently being held there, but will be extradited to Texas.
