Saturday Morning Crash Injures 2 Cyclists

Police said the incident closed Solomons Island Road in both directions on Saturday afternoon.

Two cyclists suffered serious injuries Saturday morning when a vehicle turned left in front of them on the corner of Mill Swamp and Solomons Island roads, according to The Capital.

Anne Arundel County police received a call about the accident around 11:50 a.m. Saturday and closed Solomons Island Road in both directions from 12:04 to 12:18 p.m.

Parvilla Cycle and Multisport's Facebook page posted photos from the crash, showing a silver Hyundai SUV with two large dents on its driver side as paramedics tended to the injured cyclists. Police confirmed the vehicle involved was a Hyundai Tucson.

The Facebook page also said that one of the cyclists flew over the hood of the SUV during the crash.

Three others were injured in the crash and the riders were traveling around 30 miles per hourThe Capital reported.

Police said the injured bicyclists were transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

No charges had been filed as of 1 p.m. Monday, according to police.
